We are going to Italy !!!

As many of you know, as a 60th Birthday (not until July 3rd, 2014) present to me, I am taking a trip to Italy with my good friend Allison (Sandy) Whitmore.

This is Sandy

                                  And this is Nancy

We first met in 1976 when we worked at a company in Milford NH. Over the years (and my many moves) we have done a lot together, experienced a lot of laughs, and a lot of tears.... but our friendship has grown and now we are both going on the trip of a lifetime.

I am going to attempt to post on the blog with updates on a regular basis.  Pictures may be limited, unless I can find computers to download them....but I will try.

So --- where we are going:

Rome

Florence
Venice

Daniela Alibrandi
We are also very fortunate because a long lost friend, will be joining us in Rome.  Her husband will be bringing all of us to Assisi as a side trip.

Daniela came to Manchester NH in 1965 with her family.
Circumstances arose where they only stayed that one year, and since then we have both thought of each other. Facebook brought us together 2 years ago and now we will be seeing each other after 48 years !!!

So, needless to say, Sandy and I are very excited.  British Airways will bring us to London Sunday evening and then on to Rome.

Here's to hoping that this will not be the first and last post I make..... I appreciate all your comments !!!

Ciao !!!

  2. I'm excited and these last hours seem to be the longest ones. To be again together after 48 years is something unbelievable, it means we have wished it really hard!!!!

  4. In life we often have to choose in a final and binding way. When this happens a part of us remains tied to the reality that we left, to the affection we had to sacrifice, choosing the one that seemed most important to us. But then we hardly wish to know how it would end if we took that road, if we turned to a different corner. When I left the United States, the decision was not mine, it were the events to decide on my behalf and in the following years, as time pushed me far from that reality, something grew in me making me feel always more a part of it. My Italian life has been wonderful, here I created my family, I had always near great and true friends, feelings that I would not give up for anything in the world. Now that I have lived these few days, which I fully enjoyed along with Nancy and Allison, wonderful hours stolen to everyday life, I realize that if I had stayed in the United States I would have had wonderful friends, indissoluble affections, because the important is not where we are, but who we are. Nancy and Allison have left and will soon return to their reality, as I am already immersed in mine. This breath of air has ruffled for a while my hair and wiped away the tears that I held for years. And now that I'm back watching the sea and the horizon from my window, I know what has always been there for me on the other side of the world.
